Auditions for “Murder With Style” November 28th & 30th @ 7:30 p.m.

Norwalk’s Shoestring Players community theater group is holding open auditions for “Murder With Style”, a comic murder mystery.

Auditions will take place at the Ernsthausen Recreation Center meeting room (100 Republic St., Norwalk) on Monday, November 28th, and Wednesday, November 30th, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.

“Murder With Style” takes place in a small town, where the beauty parlor plays host to the hottest styles and the hottest gossip. As the story unfolds, the locals really have something to talk about: one of the customers is dead, and foul play is suspected.  With local law enforcement baffled, it’s up to a couple of big-city inspectors to figure out whodunnit and how– a mission complicated by the fact that seemingly everybody in town had it out for the victim.

The cast has roles for 5-7 women and 1-3 men, age 20′s-60′s, as well as two “teens” to be played by actors in their teens or early 20′s.

The show opens January 21st, and will play several dates in Norwalk and surrounding communities.

It’s A Wonderful Life, Radio Play

The Shoestring Players community theater group is bringing a holiday classic to the stage this Christmas season– with a delightfully nostalgic twist.

Show dates are December 11th at 7:30 p.m. and 12th at 2:30 p.m. at Norwalk’s Main Street School auditorium, and December 17th and 18th at 7:30 p.m. at the Bellevue Society for the Arts.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors/students.

Please call 419.677.3531 (for Norwalk) or 419.484.2787 (for Bellevue) or click the buy tickets now link.

“It’s a Wonderful Life: Radio Play” tells the familiar story of George Bailey, a good man at the end of his rope who gets a chance to see what the world would be like without him.  Adapted as a live radio drama by Philip Grecian, the show is not a word for word recital of the Frank Capra classic movie, because it depends entirely on sound to tell the story.

Neil Simon’s “Rumors” opens August 13th

The Shoestring Players present the hilarious Neil Simon farce “Rumors”, August 13th – 15th at the historic Norwalk Theatre.

At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
